Stock down: Lane Taylor

Don’t be surprised if the Packers consider making a change at left guard in the near future. Sunday’s game suggested they may already be doing so. According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Taylor only played 75 percent of the offensive snaps, with rookie Elgton Jenkins playing 24 percent. Is that a sign they are considering starting with Jenkins in the future?

And Jenkins was impressive. He made an excellent block on Aaron Jones‘ touchdown.

What will be interesting to see is how many snaps Taylor and Jenkins play moving forward. What was the reason why Jenkins came into the game for as long as he did? Taylor did return to the game, but the Packers had to be impressed with the performance of their second-round pick.

This position battle continued all summer with the Packers eventually opting for the experience of Taylor over Jenkins. But it doesn’t appear to be over. Taylor’s snap counts suggest a potential change could be on the way, and he’ll need to be at his best to ensure he remains the starter at left guard.

Competition isn’t a bad thing for the Packers, but it could be for Taylor. Jenkins made a case for the starting job on Sunday.
