Packers: Top five performers vs. Vikings in Week 2 victory
By Jesse Fry
Week 2 produced win No. 2. The Green Bay Packers took down another division opponent en route to a 2-0 start and even better, 2-0 in the division.
Ten days after notching the first victory of his head coaching career, Matt LaFleur took down the division-rival Minnesota Vikings on his way to a 2-0 start to the season and in the division.
It’s only Week 2, but this was a big win for the Packers. After a huge come-from-behind win in Week 1 in 2018, the Packers failed to take advantage of a favorable schedule and earned only a tie with these same Vikings in Week 2 of 2018.
We know how the season went from there. The Packers never gained any kind of momentum and Mike McCarthy was fired in December.
Coach LaFleur will have no such problem. While the offense is still a work in progress, it showed signs of what it can be. The Packers jumped out to a 21-0 lead with crisp and efficient play. From there though, the offense had its troubles and produced zero points in the last 43 minutes of play.
The Packers relied on its new swarming defense the rest of the way. There were some chinks in the armor. Dalvin Cook was able to run for 154 yards on 20 carries. But the defense was able to put Kirk Cousins in check and force a key turnover for another victory.
After the game, Coach LaFleur said it was a great team victory. And it was. But here are five players who shined in the victory.
