Packers make top five in NFL Week 4 power rankings
The Green Bay Packers are up to No. 5 in the NFL Spin Zone power rankings for Week 4.
The offense might not yet be at its best, but the defense certainly is. And after making six sacks and forcing three turnovers in the victory over the Denver Broncos last week, the Green Bay Packers have moved up to fifth in the NFL Spin Zone power rankings for Week 4 by Randy Gurzi.
The Packers are one of the remaining seven teams with a perfect record. The Packers are second in scoring defense, allowing just 11.7 points per game after three weeks. They lead the league with a plus-six turnover differential and also have a league-high eight takeaways.
Consider that Green Bay’s defense only made seven interceptions and forced eight fumbles in all of the 2018 season, to have four of each after three games in 2019 shows how far this group has come.
Another challenge awaits on a short week, however. A win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night would help the Packers’ chances in the NFC dramatically. Not only would it put them at a perfect 4-0 — the first team in the NFL to reach that milestone — but it would also put the Eagles at 1-3, a potential playoff rival. The Packers would also have the head-to-head tiebreaker.
So consider Thursday’s game a big one for Matt LaFleur’s team.
A win would also put pressure on the other three NFC North teams to keep up. The Detroit Lions face a daunting task up against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, while the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings meet at Soldier Field. The losing team will start 0-2 in the division. The Packers are already 2-0.
Green Bay continues to move up in the NFL Spin Zone power rankings, and that will only continue if the team can complete the opening quarter of the regular season with four consecutive victories. Will Green Bay improve to 4-0?
