If Davante Adams is forced to miss time due to injury, the Green Bay Packers will have to consider their options at wide receiver.

Davante Adams had put together a dominant performance against the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the finest of his career. But after catching 10 of his 15 targets for an incredible 180 yards, he exited the game after making a reception.

He immediately grabbed his toe and looked in discomfort as he watched on from the sidelines. According to WFRV Sports Anchor Lily Zhao, Adams has turf toe.

If there’s one positive, it’s that there is a 10-day break between games, giving Adams a little extra time to rest.

But what if Adams has to miss a few games?

The Packers would be left without a clear number one option in the passing game and would be left without much experience at wide receiver.

Second-year receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison would need to step up, as would tight end Jimmy Graham. The Packers would also need contributions from Darrius Shepherd and Allen Lazard, and Jake Kumerow when healthy.

Could general manager Brian Gutekunst look to bring in a receiver from elsewhere? It’s hard to imagine an available free agent receiver could come in and make a significant difference to the offense. The only alternative might be a trade.

That, too, would seem unlikely. Mike Evans? It’s unlikely the Packers would be willing to give up enough to make a trade possible, and his contract could also be an issue considering the team’s salary cap situation.

A.J. Green? Considering he’s still out with an injury, the Packers wouldn’t get short-term help, and it’d be a move for later in the season when Adams should already be back.

Maybe an option would be to call the Miami Dolphins and ask about the availability of DeVante Parker.

One player I’m sure Aaron Rodgers would love to have on the team right now is Randall Cobb. Instead, Mike Pettine’s defense will be preparing to play against him next week in a matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

In all likelihood, the Packers will stick with their current group of receivers even if Adams has to miss time. But they should look at all available options.
