Should the Green Bay Packers defeat the Dallas Cowboys on the road in Week 5, does that mean The Pack is now the new favorite team to come out of the NFC?

The Green Bay Packers are one of a few teams in the NFC with a 3-1 record. They were perfect heading into their Thursday night game last week versus the Philadelphia Eagles but ultimately came up short in a losing effort. With the Dallas Cowboys next up on the schedule, will the Packers become the new favorite to come out of the NFC with a win over America’s Team?

On this week’s episode of Stacking the Box, FanSided‘s Matt Verderame and Josh Hill, along with former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz, the guys highlight what they are most looking forward to in the Week 5 slate.

Verderame can’t wait to see what sort of nonsense will happen when Bill O’Brien’s Houston Texans take on Dan Quinn’s Atlanta Falcons (53:02). Schwartz wisely picks a more visually appealing game when the Cowboys host the Packers (55:09).

Green Bay looked dominant in its first three games, albeit against not the best offenses in the league in the Chicago Bears, the Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos. While losing at home to the Eagles isn’t the worst thing in the world, how the Packers stack up against Dallas will go a long way in figuring out where Green Bay finds itself in the NFC hierarchy.

The Cowboys also suffered their first defeat of the season at home in Week 4 in primetime, as the New Orleans Saints got the best of Dallas on Sunday Night Football. New Orleans is seen as the best team in the NFC entering Week 5, but that’s by the slimmest of margins.

If the Packers can go into AT&T Stadium and get a win over a fellow NFC contender in the Cowboys, then maybe Green Bay goes right back to being the top team in the conference. Again, that margin won’t be by much, but having head-to-head wins over strong teams like the Bears and Cowboys this early in the season will go a long way in proving that notion correct.

Here are a few other topics that were discussed on this week’s episode of Stacking the Box:

  • Was Nate Burleson more nervous playing a big NFL game, or interviewing J-Lo (21:26)?
  • Does Dwayne Haskins save Jay Gruden’s job with the Washington Redskins (43:15)?
  • The Detroit Lions are indeed a real playoff contender (44:50).

All this and more!
