Aaron Jones has four touchdowns as Packers beat Cowboys
How would the Green Bay Packers win without Davante Adams? Aaron Jones gave them four big reasons how.
A week after a disappointing performance on the ground against the Eagles, Aaron Jones bounced back with a career day against the Cowboys. On 19 attempts, Jones rushed for 107 yards and four touchdowns. No, you didn’t misread that. Jones found the end zone four times. He also led the team in receiving with seven catches for 75 yards.
He’s now up to eight touchdowns this year, which matches his career-best in a single season.
Defensively, the Packers did what they’ve done best this season — force turnovers. They made the big plays at key moments, intercepting Dak Prescott three times.
Jaire Alexander had the first, and he was a little lucky. Alexander struggled in coverage against Amari Cooper, and Cooper should’ve had a big reception on the Cowboys’ first drive, only to tip the ball into the air and into the hands of Alexander. But considering how well the Packers’ second-year cornerback has played so far this season, he deserved that bit of luck, and he was still able to make the play and return it 37 yards, setting up the Packers for their first touchdown.
Green Bay took a 31-3 lead late in the third quarter. But a combination of good play by Dallas, some poor defense by the Packers, and a couple of questionable calls such as a roughing the passer penalty on Rashan Gary, allowed the Cowboys to make a game of it.
But all’s well that ends well. And for the Packers, this was a huge victory. They were on the road against an NFC contender and had to deal with a number of injuries to key players. They picked up the win in what was, overall, an impressive team performance.
Green Bay is now 4-1 and gets an eight-day gap before Detroit visits Lambeau Field next week.
