The Green Bay Packers will play host to the Detroit Lions on Monday night in Week 6. We compare the Packers and Lions position-by-position in this week’s tale of the tape.

The Packers enter Week 6 with yet another important game. The surprise Detroit Lions come to Lambeau Field on Monday night with a chance to take the Packers’ place at the top of the NFC North.

With a 2-1-1 record, the Lions are one of the biggest surprise teams in the NFL. They started the year with what should have been a win in Arizona before they fell apart and ended with a tie. After that, they rattled off two impressive wins over playoff teams from a year ago, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

At 2-0-1, the Lions played host to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. The Lions looked good, playing one of the AFC-favorites tough and actually taking the lead 30-27 with just 2:26 left on the clock. Unfortunately for the Lions, it was too much time. Patrick Mahomes drove the Chiefs down the field where they scored a touchdown with just 20 seconds left, eventually winning 34-30.

Even in a loss, the Lions were impressive because they made Mahomes look human for once. If they play the way they did against Kansas City, the Packers will have another tough defense to face to start this season.

The Lions had a bye week during Week 5 to rest up and get ready to take on the Packers.

Meanwhile, the Packers are coming off an impressive 34-24 victory over the Cowboys in Dallas. Don’t let the score fool you, the game wasn’t even that close. Being up 31-3 in the third quarter, it was obvious the Cowboys were going to pass. Mike Pettine and the defense stayed aggressive and got beat a few plays where the Cowboys got a little closer. In the end, all that matters is that the Packers pulled out the win and stand at 4-1 and are sitting at the top of the NFC North.

This is going to be a bigger game than many thought it would have this early in the season. Let’s take a look at the quarterbacks, offenses, defenses and special teams for each team to see who has the advantage in Monday night’s big game.
