Stock up: Jamaal Williams

It was one of Jamaal Williams‘ best performances for the Packers. After missing last week’s game due to a concussion, Williams didn’t take long to get going in his first game back. In all, he finished with 18 touches for 136 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.

He made two spectacular plays. The first was his touchdown. He forced a couple of missed tackles before fighting his way into the end zone. Down 13-0, it gave the Packers their first points at an important moment in the game.

The second was a 45-yard run late in the second quarter. The offensive line did a nice job of creating a running lane, and Williams did the rest. He made an excellent run, forcing a missed tackle in the open field before sprinting away from defenders. He was eventually tackled at the Lions’ 10-yard line, setting up first-and-goal.

Williams struggled in the season opener against the Bears, but he has averaged 63.6 rushing yards in the three games since, while also contributing two receiving touchdowns. Williams is averaging 4.8 yards per carry this season compared to 3.9 for Aaron Jones.

But both players have put in big performances in the past couple of weeks, which is an encouraging sign for this offense.
