3. Marcedes Lewis

Jimmy Graham will get most of the highlights. Robert Tonyan will get most of the love. Jace Sternberger will get the benefit of the doubt. Yet Mercedes Lewis, while the forgotten man, has proven to be just as formidable as any other tight end on the roster.

Despite being used mostly as a blocking tight end for the better part of the last two years, Lewis has shown he can still be a factor in the pass game.

I don’t know how much left Jimmy Graham has in his legs, he seems to be aging right before our eyes. Lewis looks like he deserves more chances.

Lewis has not been a featured tight end in some time; he doesn’t need to be in this offense either. But, with more chances, Lewis may still have enough left to be a difference maker. His numbers were a modest two catches for 50 yards, but he looks like the better of the two players between him and Graham.

Lewis gives the Packers a better disguise to their plans as well as a better blocker. Never one known for his speed, Lewis appears to have a little more left in his legs than Graham and has a better average per catch than Graham (13.2 Lewis/10.6 Graham) on just five less catches.

Lewis could also solve some of the red zone woes if targeted more when down near the goal line. Lewis is also 6-foot-6 and can provide a large catch radius for Rodgers and the offense.

At the very least, Lewis is proving he is worthy of being a larger part of the offense.
