4. Jaire Alexander

A week after having his worst day as a pro, Jaire Alexander responded with a solid game matched up with Marvin Jones.

We didn’t hear Alexander’s name much on Monday night, and that’s a good thing. While it’s always nice to hear his name associated with game-changing moments, sometimes you can affect the game by just doing your job without much excitement. That’s exactly what Alexander did.

There was his hustle on the opening-play flea-flicker that stopped a touchdown. Then breaking up a pass in the third quarter. He didn’t have a turnover, but those plays aided the Packers in a one-point win. Those plays are honestly the difference between a one-point win and a three-point loss.

The team will need more of this week’s Alexander and less to none at all of the Alexander who struggled against Amari Cooper. The competition is going to get tougher in the coming weeks and the Packers need Alexander and Kevin King to be the shutdown players they have shown capable of being.

This team has relied the strength of their defense the first six weeks. It has to feel good for a head coach to know each phase of this team can pick up the slack when need be. But when having Alexander healthy and ready to ball, the team exercises the same confidence as their young corner.
