Eight players missed practice on Thursday.

If ever the Packers needed a bye week, it would be now. Unfortunately, they have to play four more times before getting a week off, with two of those games coming on the road.

Instead, they’ll just have to do what they’ve done without a few key players already this season — get on with it and find a way to win.

But the injury report continues to get worse. After five players were estimated to miss practice on Wednesday, three more were on the sidelines on Thursday.

As things stand on Thursday, it sure looks like the Packers will be without a number of starters on offense, including their top three wide receivers. Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison and Marquez Valdes-Scantling all missed practice on Thursday, as did tight end Jimmy Graham. Backup tight end Robert Tonyan also sat out of practice.

And it doesn’t get much better on defense.

Star defensive tackle Kenny Clark was estimated to be a full participant on Wednesday, but didn’t practice on Thursday. That’s a concern.

Rookie safety Darnell Savage is still yet to return to practice as he deals with an ankle injury. Cornerback Tramon Williams was also added to the injury report on Thursday with a knee injury.

With only three days to go until the game against Oakland, it’s clear Green Bay will need to rely on its backups at some key positions.

With a lack of depth at receiver and injuries becoming an issue, one has to wonder whether general manager Brian Gutekunst will look to make a trade before the deadline on October 29. But even if he does, any players coming in almost certainly won’t be able to feature in Sunday’s game.

The Packers will be hoping for some more positive injury news on Friday.
