Packers: Geronimo Allison still has a chance to play vs. Raiders
Finally, the Green Bay Packers might have some good news regarding injuries at the wide receiver position.
It’s possible the Packers could be without Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison in Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders. Adams has been ruled out already. Valdes-Scantling is questionable due to ankle and knee injuries.
But Allison, who was originally listed as doubtful to play against the Raiders on Sunday, has been upgraded to questionable, the team announced on Saturday.
That’s a good sign that Allison is closer to being available than expected. He suffered a concussion and chest injury in last week’s win over the Detroit Lions.
With Adams out, it would be a huge boost for the offense if Allison and Valdes-Scantling are available. It’ll help even if only one of them is able to play.
Currently, the only fully healthy receivers on the roster are Ryan Grant, Jake Kumerow, Allen Lazard and Darrius Shepherd. Add in Allison or MVS to the mix, and it looks a lot better.
The Packers aren’t just dealing with injuries at wide receiver, but also tight end. Robert Tonyan remains doubtful to play, but Jimmy Graham will be available. He’ll be hoping to improve on last week’s two-catch, 17-yard performance against the Lions.
If both Allison and MVS are unavailable, the Packers will need Graham to step up, and they’ll also be hoping for a repeat performance from Lazard.
Lazard was one of the top performers throughout preseason, and he made the most of his first real opportunity in the regular season last week. He’ll be aiming to build on that game against the Raiders on Sunday.
Chances are the Packers won’t decide which receivers will be active until close to game time, but there’s a chance they’ll have Allison out there against the Raiders.
