Injuries at wide receiver were a concern entering the Green Bay Packers’ Week 7 game against the Oakland Raiders. But there was no reason to be worried.

Aaron Rodgers was at his MVP best, throwing for five touchdowns and running in another as the Packers dominated the Raiders at Lambeau Field.

Playing close to his best in recent weeks, Rodgers would need to have another strong game for the Packers to win their third in a row and sixth game on the season. And if No. 12 wasn’t at least in the MVP conversation before Sunday, he certainly is now.

Rodgers threw for 429 yards and five touchdowns with a perfect passer rating. He threw to eight different receivers.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling led the way with two catches for 133 yards and a touchdown, including a 74-yard score late in the game. Jimmy Graham also made some big plays, finishing with four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Five different players caught touchdowns: Valdes-Scantling, Graham, Jake Kumerow, Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams.

It was an outstanding offensive performance by the Packers, and one that showed just how good they can be when everything is working. Even more exciting is the fact they have been playing at this level without Davante Adams. How good will the offense be once he’s back from injury?

With this win, the Packers move to 6-1 and in a commanding position in the NFC. They’ve benefited from playing five of their seven games at home, and they’ll now play two on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.

That’s two big games there.

But with this win on Sunday, the Packers have matched last season’s total and have put themselves in position to make a strong playoff push.

It’s now over to the rest of the NFC North to keep up. The Bears play the Saints in the late afternoon game.
