Packers in top four of NFL power rankings after Week 7 victory
The Green Bay Packers are at No. 4 in the Week 8 NFL Spin Zone power rankings.
The Green Bay Packers keep on winning, and they continue to move up in the NFL Spin Zone power rankings as a result. Following the Packers’ dominant performance in Week 7 against the Oakland Raiders, they have moved up one position into fourth in the power rankings by Randy Gurzi.
Seven weeks into the season, the Packers have not only shown why they are one of the top contenders in the NFC, but they are also one of the best teams in the league right now.
The Packers are ninth in scoring defense, allowing just 19.9 points per game. And considering how well the offense has played in recent weeks, they’ll win a lot of football games by holding their opponents to 20 points.
Aaron Rodgers is fifth in the NFL for passing yards, fifth in passing touchdowns, and he also only has two interceptions in seven games.
More importantly, the Packers keep winning games. Sunday’s victory over the Raiders was their third straight and sixth in the opening seven weeks. Just last season, Green Bay didn’t win back-to-back games all year and finished with a total of just six victories.
Now, they’re very much in contention for a first-round bye in the playoffs, something they haven’t achieved since 2014.
Fourth position in the power rankings is also far. The New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints are all ahead of them, and that’s understandable. New England and San Francisco are undefeated, and New Orleans is 6-1, but has won five in a row despite losing Drew Brees to injury.
But if Matt LaFleur’s team can keep picking up wins, they will have the opportunity to move up a few more positions, while moving closer to securing a playoff berth.
It’s been an incredible start to the 2019 season for the Green Bay Packers.
