With the trade deadline coming up next week, the Green Bay Packers could potentially be active buyers in the trade market. Here are a five players the Packers could look into.

If you told me that seven weeks into the 2019 NFL season the Green Bay Packers would be 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the toughest division in the NFL, I would have laughed in your face. A rookie head coach whose name a lot of Packers fans had never even heard of. A new offense with an aging quarterback who is coming off one of his worst years as a pro, and then there was the whole “audible thing”.

But, here we are. The Packers are 6-1 and currently sitting in the number three seed of the NFC playoff picture. What’s even more incredible is that the Packers and this new offense have ripped off three straight wins against teams with a winning record, and that’s without their top receiver.

With Davante Adams out with his turf toe injury, no one knows when he will really be back. So Aaron Rodgers and company have been playing with a rag-tag group of receivers, an aging and overpaid tight end in Jimmy Graham, and two young, but effective running backs.

As good as this offense has been, you can’t expect this offensive production to be this good. The Packers have a chance to make some moves at the trade deadline to possibly bolster this receiving corps to keep the passing game rolling until Adams can come back. Then, when he does come back, he will be just another weapon to this offense.

The defense is pretty sound. When Darnell Savage can return, I expect the pass defense to tighten up more and not allow as many big passing plays as they have since he’s been gone. But a spot on the defense that I think could use an upgrade would be the other inside linebacker spot.

Blake Martinez has been all over the place, doing what he can, but he hasn’t been getting a ton of help from B.J. Goodson, especially in pass coverage. There may be a linebacker or two out there that the Packers may be able to make a deal for as well.

Should the Packers decide to make a move before the deadline next week, there are a few options that could make some sense for them to pursue.
