Aaron Rodgers

Is Aaron Rodgers on his way to a third NFL MVP award?

When discussing the top candidates for this year’s award, it’s hard to not include the Packers’ future Hall-of-Famer. His six-touchdown performance against the Raiders was as good as any in his career, and he finished with a perfect passer rating.

Rodgers didn’t look himself for much of the 2018 season, which isn’t surprising given the knee injury he was dealing with. But in a new offense, he’s adjusted quickly and is playing at an MVP level.

After eight games, Rodgers has 2,324 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Even in a more balanced offense, Rodgers is on pace for a career-best in passing yards. Even more than his MVP seasons in 2011 and 2014.

When Rodgers plays like he did against the Raiders, I don’t even think the Patriots’ dominant defense would be able to stop him. There’s a reason why Rodgers will one day be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. His ability to make just about any ridiculous throw imaginable makes him tough to defend.

And when he’s at his MVP best, the Packers don’t lose many games.

That’s the level Rodgers has been at in recent weeks, and it’s no surprise the Packers continue to win games. The defense has played their part throughout the season, but entering Week 9, Rodgers looks to have found his MVP form, and that’s not good news for the rest of the NFC.
