Kevin King

I’ll never quite understand why Kevin King gets as much criticism as he does. When healthy, he’s consistently played at a high level for the Packers. And he’s having a great season even though he’s played through injury in a few games.

King leads the Packers in interceptions with three, and he could’ve had a couple more. With eight passes defended, he’s second on the team behind only Jaire Alexander. King also has a sack and a forced fumble.

King didn’t make an interception in Week 4 against the Eagles, but it was arguably his best performance of the season. Matched up against Alshon Jeffery for most of the game, King had two passes defended and was excellent in coverage all night. A lot didn’t go to plan on defense for the Packers in that game, but King did his job and put in a great performance. He earned the Packers’ highest PFF grade for that game as a result.

A week later against the Cowboys, King played despite initially being listed on the injury report as doubtful. The result? Two passes defended and a crucial interception.

King has been a star in Green Bay’s secondary in the opening eight games, and with Alexander, the Packers have an excellent cornerback duo.
