Lean on the ground game and use the short passing game more often

As noted, the Panthers lead the league in sacks this season. Bryan Bulaga and David Bakhtiari struggled up against Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram last week, and they’ll have another challenge up against Mario Addison and rookie Brian Burns on Sunday.

One way to cool the pass rush is to run the ball. The Panthers defense has been able to pressure quarterbacks this season, but they’ve struggled to stop the run. They have the seventh-worst run defense in 2019, allowing 133.4 yards on the ground per game. The Packers will need to get both Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams involved.

Two weeks ago, Carolina’s defense had no answer for the San Francisco 49ers’ ground game. Tevin Coleman finished with 105 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries. In total, the 49ers had 38 attempts for 232 yards and five touchdowns.

Another way to prevent the Panthers’ pass rush taking over the game is to get the ball out quickly. Spread the ball around. Jones and Williams have both made plays out of the backfield, and they could be key in this matchup.

For the offense to get in rhythm — something they couldn’t do against the Chargers — they’ll need to establish the run and get the football out of Aaron Rodgers‘ hands quickly.
