Get Allen Lazard more involved

It’s about time Allen Lazard was given more opportunities in this offense. He’s finished with at least 42 receiving yards in each of the past four games, and that’s despite not being consistently given enough snaps.

Since getting his first opportunity against the Detroit Lions in Week 6, Lazard has caught 15 of his 18 targets for 193 yards and a touchdown. Outside of a bad drop against the Oakland Raiders, it’s hard to think of too many times Lazard has made an obvious mistake. Yet last week against the Chargers, he was only on the field for 25 snaps, according to Pro Football Reference.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling has big-play potential, but he’s far too inconsistent in his current role. He didn’t have a single catch against Los Angeles last week. The same goes for Geronimo Allison, who hasn’t had more than four catches in a game all season, and has had two or fewer in four games.

Lazard has been a consistent producer in Matt LaFleur’s offense since getting his first real opportunity, and Aaron Rodgers has shown he’s willing to throw him the football. Lazard has made the most of the chances he’s been given and deserves a bigger role starting this week against Carolina.
