4. Preston Smith

In the 10th game of the 2019 season, one of the Packers’ major offseason acquisitions, Preston Smith, recorded his ninth and 10th sacks, giving him double-digit sacks for the first time in his career.

As has been the case, Preston Smith shared the spotlight with his partner in crime Za’Darius Smith. Za’Darius was constantly in the backfield applying pressure to the Panthers, but it was Preston who came away with the sacks.

Preston Smith was also key in limiting McCaffrey’s impact as he held up well against the run and was even the cover man against McCaffrey on more than a few plays.

Smith was almost the heel in the game as he was the one offsides on a fourth-down play with only seconds left to go in the game. The Panthers were awarded another down but came up short as Smith combined with Kyler Fackrell to make the stop on McCaffrey to end the game and close out the victory.

When speaking about the defense, I feel it’s also important to mention Kenny Clark. After not doing much on the stat sheet the past month, Clark was a constant presence in the backfield, harassing Kyle Allen into bad throws and out of the pocket. Clark put up his best showing since Week 2.
