Predicting the Packers’ final six games of the 2019 season
Week 13: at Giants
I’m sure the Giants entered the season with expectations to be better than they were last year when they finished 5-11. They drafted their heir-apparent quarterback in Daniel Jones to sit him a year behind Eli Manning and learn. They had the reigning Rookie of the Year in running back Saquon Barkley and were in the second season with head coach Pat Shurmur.
Well, things aren’t looking too great right now. Eli Manning looked so bad that the Giants were essentially forced to start Jones just a few games into the season. He started off hot, winning two games in a row, bringing their record to 2-2. But Barkley went down with an injured ankle and missed a few games. Jones started to struggle, and the team is now in the midst of a six-game losing streak, bringing their record to 2-8.
The Giants are 24th in the league in yards per game, 27th in yards allowed per game, and 22nd in points per game. Overall, this is just not a very good team. The Packers’ offense should be able to put up some points on this team.
The defense will need to contain Barkley the best they can. They held Christian McCaffrey somewhat in check. If they can keep Barkley from running all over them, the Packers should roll in this one.
