2. Force turnovers

The Packers defense will have opportunities to make a game-changing play or two on Sunday. They’ll need to take them.

The Giants rank 30th in the NFL for turnover differential at minus-11. They’ve given the ball away 25 times this season, which is the second-highest amount in the NFL. New York’s offense has 10 interceptions and fumbled a league-high 15 times. The Giants also rank in the top 10 for sacks allowed this season, and that can lead to turnovers.

For all of the Packers’ issues on defense this season, they’ve been opportunistic and made those key plays at important moments. Green Bay has 16 takeaways on defense, which ranks ninth in the NFL.

That number could’ve been a lot higher had potential interceptions been made. According to Sports Info Solutions, Jaire Alexander and Kevin King have dropped three potential interceptions each this season. The plays were there to be made, but the cornerbacks couldn’t keep hold of the football.

Opportunities will present themselves on Sunday. Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine will have some creative schemes ready to try to confuse rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, and that could lead to poor decision-making and potential turnovers.

It will be up to the defense to make the most of those opportunities.
