The Green Bay Packers still have a chance to earn the NFC’s top seed. Here’s how they can do it.

Win and get some help along the way. That’s the formula it’s going to take for the Green Bay Packers to secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. But it’s not completely unrealistic that they can achieve this goal in the final four weeks of the regular season.

Home-field advantage would make a huge difference to the Packers’ hopes of reaching their first Super Bowl in almost a decade. Visiting Lambeau Field isn’t easy no matter the month, but it’s particularly challenging for road teams to play at Green Bay in the frozen, wintery conditions we see in January. The Packers have plenty of experience in that environment.

They have also been strong at home so far this year, winning five of their six contests at Lambeau Field. With games against the Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears to come in the next two weeks, the Packers will like their chances of finishing 7-1 in front of their home fans in 2019. That would be among the best home records in the NFL.

While Green Bay’s 4-2 road record is almost as impressive, winning away from home in the postseason against teams like the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints would be a daunting challenge.

That highlights the importance of home-field advantage. The Packers aren’t favorites to earn the number one seed, but it’s still possible.

Here’s what they need to happen to have a realistic chance of getting the top seed.
