3. A.J. Green

When looking at players the Packers could’ve potentially traded for earlier this season, A.J. Green’s name often came up with fans. And for good reason — he’s one of the best receivers in football.

And while the Cincinnati Bengals didn’t trade him before the deadline, they could lose him to free agency in the spring.

Signing Green would come with some risk. First of all, he’ll be 32 when the 2020 season gets underway. He missed seven games last season due to injury and is yet to play a game in 2019.

Even when Green is back to 100 percent, will he be the same player he once was? His age and recent injury history could mean he ends up signing a one-year “prove it” contract, or at least a cheaper deal than you’d expect for a player as talented as Green.

If so, the Packers should absolutely have interest. If he can get back to his best, we’re talking about one of the NFL’s top receivers. Green finished with over 1,000 yards six times in seven seasons between 2011 and 2017. The only season he fell short was because he missed six games, and he only missed the milestone by 36 yards. In eight seasons, Green has 63 touchdowns.
