5. Aaron Rodgers

If there is one person who can elevate the Packers from a playoff team to a Super Bowl team, it’s Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has been solid to borderline spectacular. His numbers are solid but not on the MVP level we have seen out of Rodgers.

We’ve seen stretches of greatness from Rodgers before and I just keep waiting for another one to start. Now would be the perfect time.

For 12 games, the team has been looking for an identity. A pass game, run game, led by defense, something. If Rodgers can get hot and carry this team for a stretch, they can forge a new identity.

Rodgers does not have the talent around him he has in the past. Davante Adams is a legitimate number one but after him there are more questions than answers. But Rodgers has the talent to elevate everyone around him. He has shown flashes of his brilliance this season. Let’s see if he can go on a sustained run.

After 12 games, the Packers are in a great position. Matt LaFleur has a chance to be the first Packers coach to reach the playoffs in their first season. I don’t think anyone would turn that away if offered in July. But they have a chance and are capable of doing more.
