5. Packers hold Redskins to under 100 yards rushing

Derrius Guice‘s return from injury has given Washington’s offense a boost. Guice and Adrian Peterson were dominant last week, leading the Redskins to a surprise victory over the Carolina Panthers. Second-year Guice had 129 rushing yards with two touchdowns, while Peterson added 99 yards and a touchdown of his own. As a team, Washington put up 248 yards on the ground with the three scores from Guice and Peterson.

To win a third straight, the Redskins will need to find similar success against the Packers at Lambeau. A matchup against Green Bay’s No. 25-ranked run defense sounds like a recipe for success, but I don’t see it going that way. The Packers played the run a lot better last week, holding Saquon Barkley and the Giants to under 100 yards rushing. I think they’ll do the same against Washington this week.

The Packers should get ahead early in the game and build a lead, forcing the Redskins to move away from their run game. Washington will be without wide receivers Trey Quinn and Paul Richardson. Green Bay should stack the box, sell out to stop the run and force rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins to throw to win.

It will be another good day for the run defense.
