Week 16: at Minnesota Vikings

Only one team in the NFL remains undefeated at home this season, and it’s the Minnesota Vikings. They’ve outscored their opponents 166-85 at U.S. Bank Stadium in 2019. In two weeks, the Packers will face the challenge of being the first team to leave Minnesota with victory this season, but they’ll need to put in a more complete performance than we’ve seen from them in some time.

If there’s one area the Vikings have fallen short of expectations, it’s on defense. The Vikings currently rank 14th in total defense, 16th against the pass and 12th against the run. Those are hardly awful numbers, but in recent years Minnesota’s defense has often been among the best in each category.

Just two weeks ago, the Vikings gave up 218 yards and two touchdowns on the ground against the Seattle Seahawks.

But they bounced back with a strong performance against the Detroit Lions. Even against a third-string quarterback, they were impressive. Minnesota held Detroit to just seven points, made five sacks and also forced two turnovers.

The Vikings will be well prepared for the Packers. Green Bay’s offense isn’t quite clicking at the moment, and the team has suffered some embarrassing losses on the road in the past month or so. I worry this might be another one.

Prediction: Minnesota 27, Green Bay 10 (11-4)
