Packers: Five players who should be All-Pros in 2019
4. Elgton Jenkins
Kyler Murray and Josh Jacobs are likely the frontrunners for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, but an argument can be made that Elgton Jenkins has been better than both of them. But Jenkins’ play often goes unnoticed as he plays at guard and he can’t be added to fantasy football rosters.
The Packers selected Jenkins in the second round of April’s draft, and so far, it looks like GM Brian Gutekunst has hit a home run. An injury to Lane Taylor opened the door for Jenkins to start early in the season, and he hasn’t looked back.
According to ESPN’s pass block win rate metric, Jenkins ranks third among all guards in the NFL at an impressive 97 percent. For a rookie to make that kind of impact so quickly is incredible.
Jenkins is quickly becoming a star at guard for the Packers, and he could soon become one of the best at the position in the NFL. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it sure seems likely the Packers have found a multi-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro in this year’s draft class.
And after the season he’s had so far, being an All-Pro selection this season should very much be a possibility.
