Packers: Five players they should re-sign in the near future
Bryan Bulaga
For a while, it felt like the 2019 season might be Bryan Bulaga‘s farewell tour in Green Bay. A free agent in the spring, his injury history and age could be major factors in the Packers not bringing back. Well, I’m not so sure now.
Finding elite tackles is far from an easy task. The Packers have been lucky to have both Bulaga and David Bakhtiari on the roster in recent years, and the two continue to be one of the best tackle tandems in all of football.
In terms of injuries, Bulaga has been much healthier over the past two seasons. He only missed two games in 2018, and despite dealing with a couple of minor injuries this season which forced him to exit a couple of games early, he’s been available in all 13 games and has played on 83 percent of the Packers’ offensive snaps in 2019, according to Pro Football Reference.
The question will be what kind of deal Bulaga will look for. If he leaves in free agency, there will be plenty of interest around the NFL. Many teams will be looking for help at tackle, and Bulaga is among the best in the league.
The Packers’ championship window is wide open. Bulaga is reliable at right tackle, and he’d be tough to replace.
