Packers: Top five performers vs. Bears in key Week 15 win
By Jesse Fry
2. Kenny Clark
Kenny Clark has come on strong over the last two weeks and this game only helped fan the flames. From the get-go, Clark dominated the Bears line. Over center to the right or left, Clark was able to penetrate the backfield and get after the offense.
A week after having a game with 1.5 sacks, Clark finished this game with two sacks, three tackles for a loss and eight overall tackles. Clark now has five sacks on the year, just one behind his career-high with two more games to go.
Clark has really come alive over the last two weeks. He has 3.5 of his five sacks from the last two games and also helped hold the Bears to only 96 yards rushing for the game. The Bears’ leading rusher, David Montgomery, had only 39 yards for the game and no Bears runner had a gain longer than nine yards. The turnaround on defense is a good sign with the run-heavy Minnesota Vikings up next.
The defense had been getting picked on with the run over the course of the season. Chicago tried to establish Montgomery and Tarik Cohen but got nowhere thanks to Clark. If Clark can keep up his play heading into the postseason, the Packers defense should be able to hang with anyone in the field.
