Aaron Rodgers and David Bakhtiari are Pro Bowlers.

Congratulations to Aaron Rodgers and David Bakhtiari, who have both been selected to the Pro Bowl for the 2019 season. They are the Packers‘ only two selected, not including the alternates, which we’ll come onto in a moment.

Rodgers is one of the three quarterbacks selected to the NFC team along with Russell Wilson and Drew Brees. Wilson is the starter.

Bakhtiari is a starting tackle for the NFC team along with Tyron Smith. Terron Armstead was also selected.

This might not be considered a vintage Rodgers season, but he’s still playing at an elite level. Rodgers has thrown for 3,463 yards, 24 touchdowns and only two interceptions. And let’s not forget that both of those interceptions were tipped in the air.

Bakhtiari is also quietly having another great season. According to ESPN’s pass block win rate metric, Bakhtiari ranks second among tackles in the NFL.

Bakhtiari absolutely deserves his selection, but it’s nice for the Pro Bowl to finally catch up. Since his last Pro Bowl selection in 2016, he’s been an All-Pro three years running. Last season, he was a first-team All-Pro but wasn’t selected to the Pro Bowl.

The Packers have two first alternates: Mason Crosby and Za’Darius Smith. Eight other players were alternates, including Aaron Jones, Preston Smith and Corey Linsley. It’s hard to believe neither of the Smith Brothers made the Pro Bowl and are only alternates for the NFC team.

Of course, the Packers will be hoping that none of these players actually take part in the Pro Bowl. Instead, the aim is for the entire team to be preparing for the Super Bowl, which takes place a week later.

We can talk about the Pro Bowl snubs, and we absolutely will, but let’s first congratulate Rodgers and Bakhtiari for being selected.
