Packers: Top five players from NFC North-clinching win vs. Vikings
By Jesse Fry
3. Davante Adams
There are many across Packer Nation who have suggested the offense was better without Davante Adams. While Adams was was out with a turf toe injury, the Packers offense continued to improve week after week and looked like a team on the verge of a breakthrough, going undefeated in the process.
While there is no denying the Packers offense looked good in his absence, you are fooling yourself if you think the team is better without him. It is not Adams’ fault for Aaron Rodgers‘ over reliance on him. And if Adams kept coming up short, then there would be a legitimate gripe. Instead, Adams once again showed he is THE man in the Packers receiving corps deserving of the attention he gets.
Adams finished one reception shy of the Packers’ single-game record with 13 catches for 116 yards. Outside of Aaron Jones, Adams was the only other consistent weapon on offense the Packers had.
Adams wasn’t without his faults as he fumbled at midfield in the second quarter with the team driving, and dropped a touchdown pass after the Packers defense stopped the Vikings just before the half. Still, he kept grinding and was there when Rodgers needed him most.
