Packers: Jamaal Williams didn’t practice on Thursday
Jamaal Williams didn’t practice on Thursday ahead of the Green Bay Packers’ Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions.
The Christmas celebrations are over, and despite already wrapping up the NFC North title, the Green Bay Packers have an important game to prepare for against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. And the injury report is a long one.
The team had Christmas off and took part in a walkthrough practice on Thursday, according to the Packers’ official website. Fifteen players are on the injury report for Week 17.
Running back Jamaal Williams was estimated not to practice on either Wednesday or Thursday due to the shoulder injury he exited Monday’s game with. Fullback Danny Vitale and safety Will Redmond were also estimated not to practice. Vitale has a knee injury and Redmond a hamstring injury.
Tight ends Jimy Graham and Marcedes Lewis, and cornerback Tramon Williams were all given veteran rest.
A number of players were limited at practice, including right tackle Bryan Bulaga, defensive tackle Kenny Clark, wide receiver Allen Lazard, center Corey Linsley and edge rusher Rashan Gary, who was added to the injury report on Thursday.
The Packers had good luck with injuries for a while, but they are beginning to add up ahead of the season finale. The hope is that most of the players on the injury report will be able to play on Sunday, help the Packers get the victory at Ford Field and ensure they all have a week off before hosting a playoff game in the divisional round two weeks from now.
We’ll soon find out which players will be ruled out for Week 17. The team will release the injury designations on Friday, which should give us a much clearer idea of who will be available for the trip to Ford Field this weekend.
