Packers: Top five performers from bye-clinching win vs. Lions
By Jesse Fry
1. Davante Adams
Since returning to the lineup from a toe injury, Davante Adams has been near unstoppable. Adams has 58 receptions, 619 yards and five touchdowns since his Week 9 return. Despite missing four games, Adams still finished with 83 catches for 997 yards, three yards shy of his second 1,000-yard season.
Adams is going to get the ball and the other team knows it. Teams are putting their best cornerbacks on him, as the Lions did with Darius Slay, and still Adams keeps finding ways to get open.
Adams finished the game with seven receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown. He used his quick feet and moves off the line of scrimmage to help him beat the Lions coverage.
Whenever Rodgers needed someone to make a play, it was Adams whose number was called. Adams was the first to score a touchdown for the Packers on the second drive of the third quarter. On third-and-10 form the Lions 20-yard line, Adams beat what looked like double coverage to haul in a much-needed score.
Adams would have loved to picked up those three yards somewhere in the game. Had Rodgers been on target today, maybe he gets those stats. However, I’m certain Adams would rather take the win and first-round bye.
