Green Bay Packers punter JK Scott is officially active for the NFC Championship Game.

Despite being added to the injury report on Saturday due to illness, punter JK Scott will play in the Green Bay Packers‘ showdown with the San Francisco 49ers with the NFC Championship on the line.

The Packers will need to be at their best in all three phases of the game on Sunday evening, and that includes special teams. Scott gives them an opportunity to do that, and he’ll be key in the role of maintaining good field position with long punts.

Just as important is his role on field goals and extra-point tries. He’s the holder for kicks. Just last week, he saved a potential miss on a wide snap and managed to get it in place for Mason Crosby to make the kick. It would’ve been short notice for someone else to step in at the last minute without much practice time.

Fullback Danny Vitale, who was listed as questionable on the injury report, is inactive. Interestingly, safety Raven Greene is also one of the inactives for the game despite being activated from injured reserve earlier this week. That seemed like an indication he’d have played in this game, even if he was limited.

The Packers are otherwise healthy for this game and ready to go.

And they couldn’t have asked for much more than this when it comes to injuries. This team is about as healthy as possible so late in the season, and that gives them their best chance of pulling off the upset at Levi’s Stadium today.

It’s set to be an interesting game with the NFC’s top two teams battling for the opportunity to meet the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs defeated the Tennessee Titans 35-24 earlier today.
