Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper are the top two tight ends set to hit free agency. Henry’s injury history is a concern, but he’s the better of the two and could dominate in the Packers offense.

Henry is only 25 years old but has valuable NFL experience, and he has developed into one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the league. In 41 career games, Henry has caught 136 passes for 1,709 yards and 17 touchdowns. He set a career-best in receiving yards with 652 this season despite missing four games through injury.

With uncertain futures for Jimmy Graham and Marcedes Lewis, adding a tight end to pair with second-year Jace Sternberger would be a smart move. Given how long it can take for tight ends to develop, turning to free agency might be the best option if the likes of Henry and Hooper are available.

Henry’s price tag and durability concerns might put the Packers off. That said, this offense needs more playmakers to go with Aaron Jones and Davante Adams. George Kittle and Travis Kelce are in their own tier at the tight end position, but Henry is in the tier just below. An excellent receiver and blocker, he could quickly become a difference-maker in the Packers offense.
