While making the most of a deep wide receiver class in the draft makes sense, adding a veteran could too. The Packers didn’t make a trade for Robby Anderson during the 2019 season, but they could get another opportunity to bring him in should he not re-sign with the New York Jets.

Signing Hunter Henry would give the Packers a mismatch at tight end who can hurt defenses in the middle of the field. Anderson would bring something completely different to Matt LaFleur’s offense. Anderson has great speed and is among the best deep threats in the entire league.

Defenses haven’t had to fear the Packers consistently hurting them deep for many years, not since Jordy Nelson was running right by defenders prior to his ACL injury. Anderson’s ability to make big plays would give the Packers offense a new dimension.

With 3,059 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in four seasons with the Jets, Anderson has become a consistent part of their offense. But with the opportunity to play alongside Davante Adams and with a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback throwing him the ball, Anderson can become a key receiver in LaFleur’s offense.

As ever, the market value will be the key. But there’s no doubting what a difference Anderson could make to this offense.
