Packers face challenging road schedule in 2020 season

The Packers face a tough road schedule in 2020.

As well as being dominant at home in the 2019 season, the Packers were equally as impressive on their travels, winning six of their eight games away from Lambeau Field.

Repeating that won’t be easy in 2020. Four of Green Bay’s road opponents next year were playoff teams this past season. Three of those teams won at least one playoff game, too.

Of course, this year’s success isn’t guaranteed to be sustained into 2020 for any of those teams. But the schedule still looks a challenging one as we look at it here in February.

Here are Green Bay’s eight road opponents: Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Houston, Indianapolis, San Francisco.

As well as playing all three divisional rivals twice, the Packers will play the entire NFC South once. The two road opponents are the Saints and Buccaneers. Playing in the Superdome is always a huge challenge given the noise and, of course, just how good the Saints have been in recent years.

By far the most daunting game is the return to Levi’s Stadium to take on the NFC Champions. The 49ers were a million miles ahead of the Packers this season, and it showed in 37-8 and 37-20 victories over Green Bay in 2019. The Packers were outscored 74-28 in two games against the 49ers.

It will be a new season and the Packers will be hoping to be a much better team when they return, more prepared to stop the run and with more receiving options on offense. It’s also possible the 49ers will take a step back from their run to the Super Bowl in 2019, but with so much young talent on their roster, they are likely set to be one of the NFC’s best teams again.

No road game is easy in the NFL, but the Packers face a tough challenge in 2020.
