Jalen Reagor believes Packers have shown ‘a lot of interest’
Potential first-round pick Jalen Reagor “feel like there’s a lot of interest” from the Green Bay Packers.
The Green Bay Packers have a need at wide receiver. That’s no secret. General manager Brian Gutekunst said as much, as reported by Jason Wilde of The Athletic.
The NFL Scouting Combine on-field workouts begin on Thursday and a wide receiver to watch is Jalen Reagor out of TCU. Reagor could dominate during the combine workouts and increase his draft stock.
That could bring the Packers into play at No. 30 overall. While we won’t know for sure how the run on receivers will go until draft day, Reagor could very well be an option for the Packers in the first round.
Interestingly, Reagor also seems to agree.
“I have talked to the Packers,” Reagor said at the combine, according to Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports. “I feel like there’s a lot of interest. We sat and watched film.”
And how could Gutekunst not be impressed with his film? Reagor’s speed and big-play ability should interest Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur. Pair Reagor with Davante Adams and the Packers would have a seriously talented wide receiver duo which would have the potential to be among the league’s best.
They could still add another receiver later in the draft or via free agency, and let’s also not forget about Allen Lazard as potentially the fourth option.
It’s never easy to predict how to draft will shake out, particularly towards the bottom of the first round. This year is even more challenging to predict Green Bay’s first choice. Even if we knew for certain they’d go wide receiver first, there will be so many options given the depth at the position. It’ll come down to which prospects Gutekunst believes has the best chance to make an immediate impact in LaFleur’s offense.
I believe Reagor would be a great choice, and the TCU star thinks the Packers might agree.
