Packers mock draft and free agency: Predicting the 2020 offseason
Players re-signed
Bryan Bulaga
Three years, $30.45 million ($10.15 million per year)
Re-signing Bryan Bulaga should be one of Gutekunst’s priorities in free agency, but it won’t come cheap, of course. Spotrac estimates Bulaga’s market value will work out at an average salary of $10.15 million on a three-year deal.
That’s a lot of money to pay a player over 30 with a long injury history, but Bulaga is that good and so important to Matt LaFleur’s offense. Now isn’t the time to take a gamble at right tackle by moving a guard or expecting a rookie to start right away. The Packers need to bring Bulaga back.
Tyler Ervin
One year, $1 million
After re-signing Bulaga, the Packers might struggle to keep Blake Martinez, who is aiming to make at least $10 million per year, according to Tom Silverstein and Jim Owczarski of Packers News.
But they’ll still be able to make some cap-friendly deals. One would be to re-sign Tyler Ervin. Ervin’s contract likely won’t be a big one but he can offer plenty of value on special teams.
Ibraheim Campbell
One year, $900,000
Ibraheim Campbell signed a one-year, $720,000 deal with the Packers last year. After recovering from a torn ACL he suffered late in 2018, Campbell played in seven games and started three. He offers good depth at safety and the contract is affordable.
Allen Lazard, Chandon Sullivan, Robert Tonyan, Tyler Lancaster
Re-signed to ERFA tenders
As I wrote last week, the Packers should re-sign four of their exclusive rights free agents. Allen Lazard and Chandon Sullivan both had excellent seasons. Robert Tonyan has the potential to develop into a solid pass-catching tight end but he needs to get healthy. Tyler Lancaster offers depth along the defensive line.
Lazard and Sullivan both have a cap hit of $585,000. Tonyan and Lancaster each have a cap hit of $660,000.
