Packers roundup: Potential free agency options at receiver
A roundup of the latest Green Bay Packers articles for Tuesday, March 10.
Welcome to the Packers News Report.
Reading an article by Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, there was an interesting note on Jimmy Graham. According to Breer, if the Green Bay Packers are to release Jimmy Graham, it’ll likely be due to “their confidence in landing a top-shelf replacement”.
OK, so they’re willing to cut Graham if they believe they can land one of the top available tight ends? Austin Hooper would be a good example. But what if they don’t think they have a chance? Would they be open to keeping Graham for the final year of his contract?
Given his lack of production in Green Bay (1,083 yards, five touchdowns in two seasons for the highest-paid tight end in football), I’d be in favor of moving on to free up $8 million in cap room regardless of if they sign a replacement in free agency or not.
