A roundup of the latest Green Bay Packers articles for Friday, March 20.

Welcome to the Packers News Report.

The Los Angeles Rams released Clay Matthews on Thursday. As a result, many Packers fans have debated the possibility of him returning to Green Bay.

It’s certainly an interesting thought. Matthews showed he can still generate pressure on quarterbacks with the Rams last season, finishing with eight sacks in 13 games.

If he was re-signed, he wouldn’t need to be a starter in Mike Pettine’s defense. With the Smith Bros. starting and Rashan Gary potentially seeing an increased role, Matthews would provide depth, which is important at a premium position. Whether Matthews would be willing to return in that role is another question.

Some have discussed the possibility of playing inside linebacker as he did in 2014 and 2015. If he returns, I’d like to see him used as a rotational pass rusher.

What are your thoughts?
