Many years, one draft prospect becomes by far the most popular choice to the Green Bay Packers in mock drafts.

In 2014, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix’s name came up a lot. Two years ago, Josh Jackson remained a popular choice in mocks for much of the offseason. Last year, the two Iowa tight ends — T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant — were often the choice by Green Bay.

This offseason, Jalen Reagor has been a popular choice to the Packers at No. 30 overall.

In Brenden Armour’s latest mock draft for NFL Mocks, Reagor is Green Bay’s selection. And for good reason. Reagor would make a ton of sense for the Packers in the first round.

Reagor has everything the Packers need at wide receiver. He’s explosive. He’s fast. And as Armour writes in the mock draft, “Reagor is a master with the football in his hands and can create space at any level of the field”.

Yes, the depth at receiver in this year’s class is great, but there could be a run at the position early on. If the Packers don’t take one of the best receivers in the first round, they could pass up a golden opportunity to strengthen the offense.

And, no, the addition of Devin Funchess doesn’t change much.

The signing is low-risk, high-reward given the details of the contract, but the Packers shouldn’t enter 2020 with the expectation that Funchess will be the number two receiver. If he develops into that role, great, but he missed most of the 2019 season through injury and hasn’t been consistent throughout his career.

In need of a difference-maker to pair with Davante Adams, Reagor could be a smart choice at No. 30 overall.

He’s quickly become one of the most popular choices to Green Bay in the first round of mock drafts, along with Baylor’s Denzel Mims. Either player would make for good first-round choices.

In this mock draft, it’s Reagor. Count me in.
