Tee Higgins is one of the best wide receivers in the 2020 draft class. Could he fall to the Green Bay Packers in the first round?

Wide receiver remains high on the shopping list for the Packers this offseason, bringing into play the possibility of using a first-round pick at the position for the first time in nearly two decades.

In a historically strong class at the position, it’s uncertain who will be available at No. 30.

Clemson’s Tee Higgins is one of the most talented pass catchers in the class. If he’s still on the board at No. 30, he could be the best player remaining.

In Matt Verderame’s latest mock draft for FanSided, Higgins went to Green Bay in the first round. Six receivers were already gone including potential first-round targets for the Packers, Justin Jefferson, Denzel Mims, and Jalen Reagor.

But if Higgins is still on the board, general manager Brian Gutekunst shouldn’t have too many complaints.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein compared Higgins to A.J. Green and wrote that “he’s an instinctive ball-winner whose traits should win out and make him a very good NFL starter”. Lining up alongside Davante Adams, the Packers could have a very strong pass-catching tandem.

Higgins is 6-foot-4, 216 pounds. Gutekunst’s recent draft history suggests he tends to go for taller receivers. He drafted three receivers in 2018 — J’Mon Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown. They are all 6-foot-3 or taller.

Allen Lazard is 6-foot-5, and new signing Devin Funchess is 6-foot-4.

Higgins has the potential to be an excellent player in the NFL and he was a productive receiver at Clemson. Over the past two seasons, Higgins caught a combined 25 touchdowns.

The 2019 season was his best, finishing with 59 catches for 1,167 yards and 13 touchdowns with an impressive average of 19.8 yards per reception.

Higgins could be a great fit in the Packers’ offense. The question is whether he’ll still be available at No. 30.
