Packers seven-round mock draft: Green Bay adds receiver early
Rounds 4 – 5
Round 4: (136): LB Evan Weaver – California
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 237 lbs
40-yard dash: 4.76 (37th percentile)
Player comparison: Frank Ginda
RAS: 6.26
Weaver isn’t your typical modern-day linebacker. He is more of the old-school linebacker and a run-stopper first. Weaver would likely be a two-down linebacker for the Packers, which is just fine because on third down they would likely go into their formation with a safety at the nickel linebacker position. His coverage abilities leave something to be desired, but that’s why the Packers brought in Christian Kirksey. After losing Blake Martinez and B.J. Goodson, the Packers will need someone to clean up tackles. Enter Evan Weaver.
Round 5 (175): DL Khalil Davis – Nebraska
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 308 lbs
40-yard dash: 4.75 (99th percentile)
Player comparison: Javon Hargrave
RAS: 9.82
Davis is one of the most athletic defensive linemen in the draft this year. He would be a much higher pick if he had more length. He would provide the Packers with some defensive line depth and has the ability to rush the passer from the inside. He would be a good third-down lineman to line up next to Kenny Clark.
Round 6
Round 6 (192): S Tanner Muse – Clemson
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 230 lbs
40-yard dash: 4.41 (94th percentile)
Player comparison: N/A
RAS: 9.94
Muse is a big and physical safety and was a hybrid kind of player for Clemson. Muse would be the kind of player the Packers would be able to put in that nickel linebacker spot. He is physical enough to stop the run but also has some serious athleticism that will help him in coverage. He would be able to handle covering the bigger slot receivers and tight ends as well. Depending on how Raven Greene looks after his injury last season, Muse could be a potential replacement.
