The Green Bay Packers are sixth in the latest NFL Spin Zone power rankings.

Less than two weeks away from the 2020 NFL Draft, NFL Spin Zone has put together its latest power rankings.

After a relatively quiet offseason so far, the Green Bay Packers are in sixth position of the rankings, down one spot from their previous ranking.

While it’s no surprise to see the Packers near the top of the rankings after reaching the NFC Championship Game last season, it’s also unsurprising they’ve dropped one position as they have yet failed to address their biggest positions of need.

That can change in two weeks, of course, as noted by Dan Parzych in the power rankings. He wrote about the need at wide receiver entering the draft:

"“The Packers may not be on the clock for the first time until near the end of the first round, but with this year’s wide receiver class, Green Bay needs to strongly consider focusing on this position right away to put Rodgers in better shape,” Parzych wrote."

Fortunately, this is a perfect year to need help at wide receiver. This is a potentially all-time great class at the position and it comes at the ideal time for the Packers.

It also helps that they don’t need a rookie wide receiver to come in as the number one target in this offense. Three-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams has that role secured. What the Packers need is a complementary piece or two who can take the pressure off of Adams and force defenses to pay more respect to the other pass-catchers on the field.

Whether it’s Jalen Reagor, Brandon Aiyuk, Denzel Mims, Justin Jefferson or another first-round receiver, the Packers should be spoilt for choice when they hit the clock. An early run on receivers should be expected, but it’s highly likely one of the best receivers in the class will be available for the Packers at the bottom of the first round.

Whether they decide to draft a receiver first remains to be seen. It would be the first time they had picked a receiver on Day 1 since 2002.

If the Packers are to take the next step, this is a position they must strengthen.
