Twitter reacts to the Green Bay Packers’ decision to select QB Jordan Love.
The surprise of the NFL’s first round. The possibility of the Packers selecting a quarterback, and in particular, Utah State’s Jordan Love, had been discussed all offseason long. But did anyone actually believe it would happen?
GM Brian Gutekunst traded away a fourth-round pick in order to move up four positions. It’s yet another bold move by Green Bay’s general manager. One that comes with risk, of course, but also a lot of potential. We won’t know the answer for many years.
As expected, such a big move has been met with mixed responses on Twitter. Here are some of the best reactions to the Packers’ first-round pick:
Zach Kruse of Packers Wire called it a “franchise-altering moment”. And it’s hard to disagree.
The legacies of Brian Gutekunst and Matt LaFleur are now forever latched to Jordan Love. Truly a franchise-altering moment. Still hard to digest the lasting reach of this decision. Struggling to write on it.

The Draft Network’s Trevor Sikkema believes Green Bay is a good landing spot for Love, but questions the decision by the Packers.
From Jordan Love's perspective, Green Bay is a perfect spot. Zero pressure to start anytime soon, gets to lean behind one of the best gun slingers to ever do it.

From GB's perspective, this does absolutely nothing for their current winning window after overachieving last year.
Peter Bukowski of SB Nation and the Locked On Packers podcast believes Love is a “legitimate franchise QB talent”.
Jordan Love was my 21st player in this draft. He is a legitimate franchise QB talent who, as recently as a month ago, was getting top-10 pick buzz.

It's a surprising move for the Packers who want to win now, but Love is VERY talented.
As Andy Herman of Cheesehead TV pointed out, the Packers simply don’t draft offensive players in the first round too often. The last skill position player on offense selected on Day 1? Aaron Rodgers.

2020: Jordan Love
2005: Aaron Rodgers
Cheesehead TV’s Aaron Nagler called it last summer.

And no matter what you think about this pick by the Pack, here’s the tweet of the night. It’s so good that Andy Herman deserves a second mention in this post.
The Packers now have AT LEAST two quarterbacks better than the Bears. So there's at least that.

So, what’s your opinion on this move? Can Love become the face of the franchise in a few years? If so, was this the right call? Or should Green Bay have gone all-in for the next couple of seasons with Rodgers?
All I know is, it’s going to be fascinating to see how this plays out.
