Packers: Possible targets on Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft
By Jesse Fry
Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft is in the books and the Packers left fans even more puzzled. Which players could the Packers target to improve fans’ feelings about the draft?
Coming into the draft, the Green Bay Packers were in need of a wide receiver to pair with Davante Adams. The team signed Devin Funchess as a free agent but that wouldn’t or shouldn’t stop them from drafting a wide receiver.
This draft matched up well for that need.
In what was supposed to be one of the deepest wide receiver drafts in some time, the Packers will come away from the first three rounds of the draft without one.
Instead, the Packers used their second-round pick on a running back and drafted a little known, undersized tight end in the third.
If the Packers’ day one was puzzling, day two will only add to the confusion. The Packers failed to address a position of need until the third round and missed out on some possible difference-making wide receivers along the way.
Because of the trade in the first round, the Packers will not pick again until No. 175. That means 81 players will have been picked since Green Bay’s last selection in round three.
This isn’t where teams usually find impact players or difference makers. It doesn’t mean they can’t or they are not there; the Packers have had some luck in round four with linemen. But, the likelihood lessens.
Day three is where teams solidify their roster and look for good value. Here are some players that could possibly be targets for the Packers.
