Ibraheim Campbell has signed with the Tennessee Titans.

The Green Bay Packers decided not to re-sign safety Ibraheim Campbell, and he has now signed with the Tennessee Titans.

It’s somewhat surprising that GM Brian Gutekunst didn’t attempt to bring Campbell back. He provided solid depth at the safety position when healthy.

Campbell impressed late in the 2018 season after being claimed off waivers but suffered a torn ACL. He’d return midway through the 2019 season, playing in seven games and starting three. Last year, he made 14 tackles and forced a fumble.

Campbell also plays a role on special teams. According to Pro Football Reference, he played on 28 percent of Green Bay’s special teams snaps last season. And he missed half the year due to injury, so that number would’ve been much higher had he played in all 16 games.

Re-signing Campbell wouldn’t have been an expensive move, so the Packers must’ve decided they wanted to move on this offseason.

Perhaps the biggest indication that Campbell wouldn’t be brought back was when the Packers selected safety Vernon Scott in the seventh round of last week’s draft. Scott offers versatility and could make the roster as the fourth safety behind starters Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage, and backup Raven Greene.

Green Bay also signed two safeties who went undrafted: Henry Black, out of Baylor, and Franke Griffin, out of Texas State. The Packers have plenty of competition for spots on the roster at the safety position.

With Campbell now signing with the Titans, the biggest remaining question from the Packers’ free agency class is whether cornerback Tramon Williams will be re-signed. In a surprising draft by Green Bay, another head-scratching decision was to not draft a cornerback. Re-signing Williams would make the most sense to help in 2020.

Campbell becomes the eighth Packers free agent to sign with another team this offseason.

Should they have re-signed Campbell?
