The Aaron Rodgers-to-Davante Adams connection is still one of the league’s best.

Through all the discussions about the Green Bay Packers needing to get wide receiver help this offseason, it’s easy to forget about the star pass-catcher they already have on the roster.

Aaron Rodgers has formed some unstoppable connections over the years, and in recent seasons his favorite target has been Davante Adams. They are both two of the very best at their respective positions and with years of experience playing together, they are tough to stop.

Gil Brandt of NFL.com recently ranked the top QB-WR pairings in the league. At No. 7 on the list is the Packers’ Rodgers-Adams pairing.

You could certainly make a case they should be higher in the rankings. Tom Brady and Mike Evans are a position higher, and while that could be an excellent connection in Tampa Bay, they have never played together. The same is true of Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins, a pairing that comes in at No. 3.

Adams’ dominant release is as good as any in the league which allows him to create instant separation. He’s an elite route-runner, has strong hands and can make defenders miss after the catch. There isn’t much Adams doesn’t do well.

It took a few years for Rodgers and Adams to get on the same page, as is often the case with quarterbacks and receivers. But we first saw signs of dominance between these two in 2016. Adams had a great year despite Rodgers’ longtime top target Jordy Nelson seeing the ball come his way a lot.

Over the past two seasons, Rodgers and Adams have connected for 2,383 yards and 18 touchdowns. And Adams missed a month of action in 2019.

The Packers absolutely should’ve added more receiving talent this offseason (and still could), but they are lucky to have one of the best QB-WR connections in the league.
